The Lovers card usually calls attention to or represents a couple, but my interpretation stems from the idea that the most important relationship is the one we have with ourselves. This foundational bond that every person must face is mirrored in all other relationships.
This Design represents the harmony of dual energies, self-compassion, and invites us to embrace all aspects of the self and therefore the other.
These prints are a labor or love from start to finish. I design each image in procreate and then transfer it to a linoleum block to begin carving. Each block takes anywhere from a few hours to a few days to carve. Then I begin mixing colors and printing each design on lovely delicately textured paper. Prints are created in sets of 10-15 before moving on to the meticulous hand foiling portion of the process. I choose a few sweet moments of the design to illuminate by painting on adhesive, and brushing on gold leaf.
The Sun card represents enlightenment, wholeness, and energized, childlike enthusiasm. It reminds us that we are worthy, we are enough, and the universe conspires in our favor.
